What is the Objective/Goal?
There is an "artist" in every child. The objective is to provide opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original works of art (inspired by the pre-selected theme).
How Do Students Participate?
Brainstorm the theme. This should be their thoughts and ideas.
Create the entry and have fun doing it!! Students can write a story, compose a song, dance/choreography, make a film/video, draw a picture or take a picture.
Bring the entry and entry form to school by the deadline (October 21 2008). Turn it into the Reflections box (in the office) or to their classroom.
Judges review entries based upon creativity, artistic merit and interpretation of the theme. There are 4 additional levels of awarding (council, district, state and national).
Reflections "Beauty is..."
Do you have a student who expresses their creativity through dance, music, story or poetry? Do they dream of having their drawings displayed in a special exhibit? Do they enjoy taking photographs or videotaping friends? If so, they can join students in the San Ramon Valley School District as well as students throughout California and the United States in creating and participating in the Reflections Program of 2009-10. This year’s theme is “Beauty is…!” With such a versatile theme, the entries are bound to be exciting. So, encourage your student to put on their dancing shoes, grab a camera, pick up a pen or paintbrush and create! They will have fun! The entries will be due to school in late October.
