| Breakfast Book Club | |
Breakfast Book Club is for students who love to read and are in grades 1-5. Students meet on the last school calendar Wednesday of each month from 7:40am - 8:20am . Parent volunteers facilitate the discussion and help with setup and breakfast. Students look forward to the great age appropriate books that are chosen and discussions after a book/chapters have been read during these meetings. Students also receive an office book club T-shirt. | GATE | |
In grades 3-5, GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) students are grouped together by forming clusters within the heterogeneous class. Identification of GATE students begins with a teacher or parent referral. Referred students will be given the CogAT . For more information click here. |

| Geography Club | |
The Coyote Creek GATE Geography Club is open to all GATE students and other interested students in grades 3-5 and will meet in room 9 every Friday from 3-4pm . The purpose of the club is to prepare students for the National Geography Bee Competition. The school winner will take a qualifying test for the state competition. The goal of the club beyond the competition is to promote geography education that will foster future global citizens. |

| Instrumental Music | |
The instrumental music teacher provides weekly group lessons to 4th and 5th grade students who are interested in learning to play an instrument. Beginning and advanced instrumental programs are offered. |

| Leadership | |
Student Leadership is a great place for children who want to make a difference in the community. This outstanding group of children take on the challenges of being strong school leaders who will benefit our community. In October all of the fourth and fifth grade children who were interested in becoming school leaders submit an essay discussing their qualities that make them good leaders. | Math Olympiad | |
Math Olympiad is a national organization comprised of 150,000 plus students. Fourth and Fifth grade students compete individually and as a team in monthly math challenges. The team works weekly on developing skills to problem solve challenging questions. Once a month, from November through March, a test is given. GATE sponsored event. Goals are to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for mathematics, to introduce important mathematical concepts, to teach major strategies for problem solving, to develop flexibility in solving problems, to strengthen intuition, to provide for the satisfaction, joy and thrill of meeting challenges. |

| Odyssey of the Mind | |

| Safety Patrol | |
Fifth grade students have the opportunity to help their school community by becoming members of the safety patrol. The students must write an essay that indicates why they feel they have the qualifications to be on the safety patrol. Selected students participate in an after school training session and take a written test on school safety rules. Students are assigned to help with traffic duty either before or after school. |

Cub Scouting is offered to boys first through fifth grades (ages 7 to 10). Cub Scouting combines fun with educational activities and lifelong values. It also helps parents to help their boys strengthen character, develop good citizenship, and enhance both physical and mental fitness. Girl Scouting gives girls the opportunity to have fun, make friends and discover new places! Girl Scouting provides safe and enjoyable activities for girls, helping them to grow strong through decision making, participation and cooperation. Girl Scouts meet in small groups, called troops, with caring and nurturing adult leaders who provide the environment girls need to learn and develop skills they need for success in the real world. |

| Smile Mile | |
Come join the fun on Thursdays, weather permitting, and run a mile. Students meet on the blacktop at 3:10 and run a mile under the direction of the physical education teacher. Individual times are recorded each week and children can check and see if they have improved their times. Students need to be picked up by 3:30. The beginning date of this activity will be announced to the PE classes and listed in the Friday Flash during the first trimester. |
